Came across a few American and Fowler Toads while on my way to the Timber Rattler Den that i found on my last trip.
Was about 8:30am when i reached the Timbers Den, and there were the 2 beauties out basking on the cliff. Was doubtful they would be there but I was happy to see they were still there and unharmed. So i took a few shots and sat around while they basked and explored.
I desided to name them A and B being my 1st 2 Timbers in WV. Maybe I will be able to check in on them from time to time.
“A”

“B”

A- being the bigger possible female.
B -smaller possible male.
Have Sexed them at this time.
So yes.. “A” Was basking a bit over and down on a ledge so i took a few shots and moved back over to where “B” was sence “A” Was going exploring.
After awhile of shooting I was desiding to get things packed and try a few more places and make my way back around to here again.
**A lesson Learned.
So as I was getting ready to leave and wondered where “A” had ran off to the whole time. well i found out when i turned around an when to grab my backpack. No he wasnt in it or anything. “thank god” but was coiled up beside it and think i scared him cause he got pertty cranky at me. So next time I will have to remember to close my bag and put it up somewhere out of the way. And just thinking a few more mins he would have probably crawled right by my foot.
“Can see him crawling away after”

So I packed up took a few more shots on my way out and headed down the hillside. took a nice 3 hr hike but with no luck just a few more toads and a 5-lined skink.

12pm
Made my way back over to “A” and “B”;s Den
and seen they were out basking again so i took afew moreÂ
shots and headed back out.

Went to another place to hike for about 2 more hours . Was a nice place but didnt see anything but another Amer. toad. and by them my feet were killing me and had Blisters on my Ankles. So was out for the nice ride home.
Â
Seen 2 black rats on the side of the road, and a unidentified that i think was a Hog. But no way to stop on the Interstate.
And lots of Fan belt snakes. Gotta love those.
